Dogs can produce some of the fatty acids they need, but not all of them. The fatty acids they cannot produce themselves, must be obtained in their diet, are called 'essential' fatty acids. Two groups of fatty acids that are critical to your dog’s health are Omega 6 and Omega 3. It is not only important for these to be present in your dog’s food, but also in the correct ratio. Omega 6 occurs abundantly in our fresh poultry, while flaxseed oil is added because it is rich in both linolenic (Omega 3) and linoleic (Omega 6) fatty acids.
